I loved the storyline and the art style. It’s full of creepiness and dark comedy and the perfect hodgepodge of paranormal and supernatural. There’s action, whit and mystery. I’m not going to even pretend to know which direction the next book will go. I’m most curious about the “Mama” character and the why’s behind the behaviors of some. Bits of the history of the older generation of hunters are given by way of flashbacks, and inside stories about the younger generation are shown. Both left me wanting to know more. Several different types of not-exactly-human creatures have roles and murders do happen. Although the tone is darkish, it isn’t actually scary or gory, and even though they wouldn’t fit society’s definition of “good” people, you find yourself rooting for the family. I definitely plan to continue the series.
