CONCOURSE by Santino Hassell Blog Tour Review

About Concourse

Ashton Townsend is the most famous celebutante of Manhattan’s glitterati. The black sheep of his wealthy family, he’s known for his club appearances, Instagram account, and sex tape. Most people can’t imagine him wanting for anything, but Ashton yearns for friendship, respect, and the love of his best friend—amateur boxer Valdrin Leka.

Val’s relationship with Ashton is complicated. As the son of Ashton’s beloved nanny, Val has always bounced between resenting Ashton and regarding him as his best friend. And then there’s the sexual attraction between them that Val tries so hard to ignore.

When Ashton flees his glitzy lifestyle, he finds refuge with Val in the Bronx. Between Val’s training for an upcoming fight and dodging paparazzi, they succumb to their need for each other. But before they can figure out what it all means—and what they want to do about it—the world drags them out of their haven, revealing a secret Val has kept for years. Now, Ashton has to decide whether to once again envelop himself in his party-boy persona, or to trust in the only man who’s ever seen the real him.

Top ten places you’d find Ashton and Val of Concourse

  1. Running. Both characters love to hit the road when they’re stressed or need to clear their minds. Considering both of their stress levels at times, this happens a lot. Val in particular gets antsy if he can’t go for a long run.
  2. Cadet’s Boxing Gym. Valdrin has been going to Cadet’s since he was a kid, learning to box with his long-time trainer. He was seen as a prodigy even if everyone thinks his heart isn’t in it.
  3. Footlocker or Foot Action. Valdrin might be a bit of a sneaker head. Just maybe.
  4. Valdrin doesn’t eat out much, but his favorite thing to do is visit the food trucks in SoHo or Union Square.
  5. Fordham University in the Bronx. Valdrin’s younger sister goes there, and he checks in a lot.
  6. SoHo. This part of Manhattan is the best place for paps to stake out and look for Ashton. He’s almost always seen down there shopping with his close friends Mere and Charles.
  7. Ladurée. If he’s not in Paris, Ashton can now get some of his favorite pastries in New York.
  8. Sunshine Cinema. Both Val and Ashton love frequenting this theater for indie movies. They came together a lot as teenagers.
  9. Central Park. They used to “explore” it as kids, or whenever Ashton was overwhelmed with his parents and needed to get out. Good memories of their earliest bonding moments!
  10. At each other’s homes. Although, maybe they’ll eventually live together…

Concourse (Five Boroughs, #5)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I like how this series embraces the diversity of New York. It has those coming from poor and rich backgrounds, the ones that don’t have to work and the ones struggling with several jobs, entrepreneurs, teachers, dock workers, philanthropists and so on. The main couples have been a mix of ethnicities also. In Concourse, Valdrin is from Albanian descent and working multiple jobs to stay afloat. Ashton is from old money and became famous for a bit of ‘acting out’ and social media.
Honestly, I do not like reality tv or the rich and famous celebrity gossip type stuff. I don’t keep up with them in real life and usually don’t like to read books with these types of characters. Because of how I am, it seems certain that I would not like Ashton, but I adored him. The author does an excellent job of showing how human he is. He’s not just the diva he shows his fans. I’ve always had a thing for book boyfriends who are fighters, boxers or MMA so my love of Valdrin isn’t a surprise. These guys are just perfect compliments to each other. They are almost opposites in many areas but similar in heart.
I completely fell into the life these guys were leading and couldn’t put the book down. I love when I have a reading experience like that. Concourse is sweet, sexy, romantic and entertaining. I recommend it for sure.

MURPHY by Bey Deckard Audiobook Review

Novellette (17,853 words)

Genre(s): Science Fiction, Erotica, Military, BDSM, Gay

Sometimes when it seems like it’s too late, the right person comes along and opens your eyes…

Murphy is the continuing story of a D/s relationship between two Space Marines who found each other in the midst of hopelessness and misfortune.

Sarge and his newly minted squad travel across the galaxy on a top-secret mission that could help win the war. However, to Murphy something about the mission stinks, and it’s not just the planet they’ve landed on.

Review

Murphy (F.I.S.T.S. #2)Murphy by Bey Deckard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Updated: Audiobook Review
This is a multi-layer tale. It’s skeleton is military life. Military lingo and structure are very present. The outer is the sci-fi aspect. An alien war is taking place. Also genetic manipulation is possible. Many have bionic body parts. It’s futuristic so the weapons, planets, aircraft, medicine—most everything is beyond the reader’s normal. The inner is about a D/s relationship between to male soldiers growing into love. Yes, for the romance lovers, it even has heart, a hard soldiers’ version of it.

Sarge is a grizzly, hot head, aged officer with more fighting experience than anyone. Murphy is his beastly huge, soft-spoken, intelligent partner in every way. (I love Murphy!) Together they make quite a formidable team. In this installment, they are sent on a mission where they soon discover that everything is not what it appears.

This author really has a way of making you fall in love (he kinda sneaks it on you) with his book characters while weaving an interesting fantasy world. The narration is perfect. It’s exactly how I pictured their voices in my mind when I read the books the first time. Listening to the story made me feel everything deeper. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more.

SARGE by Bey Deckard Audiobook Review

  • Novellette (16,940 words)
Genre(s): Science Fiction, Erotica, Military, BDSM, Gay

Sometimes it’s just about being in the right place at the right time… with the right person.

Sarge is the short story of a burgeoning D/s relationship between two Space Marines stationed on an alien planet where an endless war drags on.

Sergeant Wilkes is a hard man with a long, celebrated military career.

Brawny, tattooed, and utterly submissive, Murphy is just an interesting diversion… until Sarge realizes he has found something truly rare.

Review

Sarge (F.I.S.T.S. #1)Sarge by Bey Deckard
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sarge is a sci-fi, futuristic, war, BDSM combo. It’s short, but the wording is perfect, no repetition, exactly right for bringing the setting to life in our minds. It contains plenty of action to carry the story solely and the perfect amount of sexuality to hook the reader. It’s a romance that isn’t overly sweet.

I read this when it first came out and really liked it. I loved the science fiction action and erotica again, but what struck me more when I listened to this audiobook is the relationship. The author is able to convey a deep romance with few words. The narrator portrays the guys perfectly. Sarge and Murphy are in a continuous war with sometimes near death conditions. Both are strong military men, but it’s obvious how deeply they care for one another. The outlook is bleak, and they become the light in each others lives.

EXPOSED by Bey Deckard Review

Novel (80,000 words)
Themes: age gap, daddy kink

With middle-age looming, Greg offsets his boring day job with what truly feeds his soul: photography. The camera is an extension of himself where he exposes his passion for the intersect of pleasure and pain. However, the lens also acts as a barrier, protecting his subjects from the shameful mistakes of his past, and Greg is left isolated and lonely.

Emyr stands on the cusp of fame, but adulation and abuse are both eroding his confidence, and one night, at the river’s edge, he seeks solace in the rain, hoping to hide his tears.
The photographer and the virgin rock star share an accidental connection on that dark, drizzly night. When Greg invites Emyr back to his hotel room, no strings attached, the young man should have bolted. Instead, an odd sense of trust allows him to follow Greg’s lead.

When the camera comes out, Emyr learns the stage isn’t the only place he loves to perform as Greg touches something inside him that rarely awakens. Faced with a beautiful, talented boy whose soul is as lonely as his own, will Greg be able to face his past and come to terms with it, or will he run from the connection he so desperately desires?

Review

Exposed

Greg does graphic design and photography and is old enough to be Emyr’s father. Emyr is a young break out rockstar. In the bedroom, Emyr likes to call Greg by the term Daddy and Greg is a little Dom-ish, but mostly this is a chill romance. The relationship is exactly what both need. When Greg photographs Emyr, each learns more about himself. Anyone who likes M/M romance or BDSM-lite should check this out. I really enjoyed how they travel all around. All the countries outside of the US and the Welch dialogue were interesting to me. Exposed is a sweet book that will probably broaden the reader’s horizons in many ways.

HOW TO BANG A BILLIONAIRE by Alexis Hall Release Blitz Review

Title: HOW TO BANG A BILLIONAIRE
Author: Alexis Hall
Series: Arden St. Ives, #1
On Sale: April 16, 2017
Publisher: Forever Yours
eBook: $4.99 USD

The first book in an all-new m/m romance trilogy by RITA Award-winning author Alexis Hall!

Rules are made to be broken . . .

If England had yearbooks, I’d probably be “Arden St. Ives: Man Least Likely to Set the World on Fire.” So far, I haven’t. I’ve no idea what I’m doing at Oxford, no idea what I’m going to do next and, until a week ago, I had no idea who Caspian Hart was. Turns out, he’s brilliant, beautiful . . . oh yeah, and a billionaire.

It’s impossible not to be captivated by someone like that. But Caspian Hart makes his own rules. And he has a lot of them. About when I can be with him. What I can do with him. And when he’ll be through with me.

I’m good at doing what I’m told in the bedroom. The rest of the time, not so much. And now that Caspian’s shown me glimpses of the man behind the billionaire I know it’s him I want. Not his wealth, not his status. Him. Except that might be the one thing he doesn’t have the power to give me.

Excerpt

If I’d been hoping to win another smile, I was disappointed because all I got in response was, “Turn around.”
It was a phrase that had come my way often enough and I was pretty fond of it. But the way he said it, oh God the way he said it, turned my insides to honey. Not bossy or rough but implacable.
A command.
If he did it in a voice like that—all steel and velvet and the promise of his approval—I would have done anything he told me.
No matter how slutty or degrading.
Actually.
Strike that.
Especially if it was slutty or degrading.
I turned around, trying to shut down the porno in my brain. We were in a public place, and I was fully dressed (in several layers of formal wear as it happened), but it felt vulnerable. Giving this man, this stranger, my back. My trust.
His arm came around me from behind. And the heat of it, the pressure. The tightening muscles of his forearm made me a bit delirious. I leaned back and his body was right there, all hard planes and angular curves for me to nestle into. I tilted my hips, wriggling my arse until I was tucked in against him, pinned and protected at the same time, at once safe and overwhelmed.
I tried to breathe and an excited little moan happened instead.
Caspian tugged me in tighter still. No humiliatingly inappropriate noises from him. But his heart was thudding hard and fast against my spine. He pulled the bow tie out of my hand and straightened my collar. A finger touched me lightly under the chin and I tipped my head back against his shoulder, exposing my throat. That was when I heard him growl. Softly enough I almost missed it, but there it was. This sound of deep, primitive pleasure that shivered all the way down my back and headed off in a few other directions as well.
As he leaned over me, his breath grazed the top of my ear and that insubstantial caress felt so ridiculously intimate it made my knees go weak. Like I was supposed to be on them. At his feet. His other arm came around me as he did whatever you have to do to make a bow tie happen. He didn’t fumble at it the way Nik had. His movements were swift and assured. And, just for a moment, I felt a brush of warmth across my pulse point, like a touch that wasn’t.
I only noticed he was done when he gave me a little push. Too busy swooning into his neck and shoving my bum into his crotch like the wanton hussy I was. I turned, stumbling a little, discovering too late I was basically jelly, and just about managed not to end up on the ground again.
“Um, thanks.” I lifted a hand instinctively, wanting to feel the shape of the knot, but then stopped. I’d only wreck it.
He just nodded, his eyes slipping away from me again. I wished he’d stop doing that. Was my face that boring? But his color was up, his breath a little unsteady. And, y’know, there’d been movement back there. When I’d been doing my thing. So maybe he was just…embarrassed?
“That’s some good tying,” I heard myself say. “Is it practice or natural talent?”

HOW TO BANG A BILLIONAIRE, #1
HOW TO BLOW IT WITH A BILLIONAIRE, #2

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Alexis Hall was born in the early 1980s and still thinks the twenty-first century is the future. To this day, he feels cheated that he lived through a fin de siècle but inexplicably failed to drink a single glass of absinthe, dance with a single courtesan, or stay in a single garret.

He did the Oxbridge thing sometime in the 2000s and failed to learn anything of substance. He has had many jobs, including ice cream maker, fortune-teller, lab technician, and professional gambler. He was fired from most of them.

He can neither cook nor sing, but he can handle a seventeenth-century smallsword, punts from the proper end, and knows how to hot-wire a car.

He lives in southeast England, with no cats and no children, and fully intends to keep it that way.

How to Bang a Billionaire (Arden St. Ives, #1)

This book is kind of for the kinky billionaire loving readers and for the readers that don’t get into the mega rich BDSM stories. It has hints of those themes, but they aren’t the full plot. It is a romance between Arden and Caspian, but it’s really mostly about Arden. The reader gets inside his head about school and life worries. Everything is from his point of view. His friendship with his roommate is very cuddly. He’s mother has an interesting relationship. Caspian’s sister spends some time with Arden. It’s an inside look at his final bit of college and the time right after. Anyone who is a fan of this author, M/M romance, erotica, beyond rich love interests, college and new adult fiction or British contemporary romance should check out How to Bang a Billionaire.

GOODBYE PARADISE by Sarina Bowen Review

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh & Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.
But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.
It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.
Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?
Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counterThis book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone. For more about its previous publication, you can read this blog post.

Goodbye Paradise (Hello Goodbye, #1)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love the way this author delivers interesting and emotional stories with deep down good characters. Josh and Caleb were raised in a religious cult. Growing up the way they did is a handicap in many ways, but it also gives them a certain genuineness. Caleb was given a little more freedom to go out into the world when the group had a need that couldn’t be met on the compound. Josh wasn’t allowed on the outside until he was cast out so he struggles more with knowing what’s truly good or bad, dangerous or safe. I love him to pieces.
Although the boys have been sheltered from a lot of things, they have always been attracted to each other so it doesn’t take long for things to heat up when they are allowed to be their true selves. This is an endearing romance with loads of wonderful people and plenty of sexy. If you are a fan of this author or MM, new adult, sweet n’ spicy romance, you should give Goodbye Paradise a go.

Insight (The Community, #1)

Nate is part of the old, secretive Black family. They are strange to say the least, and each of them possesses some type of psychic ability. Nate has been told to hide it all his life. He hasn’t been guided. He didn’t have the easiest childhood and remains an outcast in his town. Relationships are rocky in the Black family so he mostly just keeps to himself. Nate’s power is low-level empathy. He can feel all the negativity from everyone with whom he comes into contact. Every vibe he gets is in some way a downer to his system until he meets Trent. Trent is like a light in the dark, sunshine breaking through the rain. Nate feels warmth and calmness coming from Trent and wants to feel more of it. Luckily Trent is drawn to Nate also.
I easily developed affection and understanding for Nate and Trent. Neither personality is overly sweet or alpha. They both are a little standoffish to most of society. I totally get that. Let me just say empath sex is beyond hot. Yes indeed. The suspense and mystery elements are real attention grabbers. I couldn’t wait to learn if my guesses were correct, who everyone really was and what actually was happening. I stayed up late into the night reading with this gem. It hooked me in the best way. Insight is a gay paranormal romance, supernatural thriller and murder mystery all rolled into one exceptional novel.
