CONCOURSE by Santino Hassell Blog Tour Review

About Concourse

Ashton Townsend is the most famous celebutante of Manhattan’s glitterati. The black sheep of his wealthy family, he’s known for his club appearances, Instagram account, and sex tape. Most people can’t imagine him wanting for anything, but Ashton yearns for friendship, respect, and the love of his best friend—amateur boxer Valdrin Leka.

Val’s relationship with Ashton is complicated. As the son of Ashton’s beloved nanny, Val has always bounced between resenting Ashton and regarding him as his best friend. And then there’s the sexual attraction between them that Val tries so hard to ignore.

When Ashton flees his glitzy lifestyle, he finds refuge with Val in the Bronx. Between Val’s training for an upcoming fight and dodging paparazzi, they succumb to their need for each other. But before they can figure out what it all means—and what they want to do about it—the world drags them out of their haven, revealing a secret Val has kept for years. Now, Ashton has to decide whether to once again envelop himself in his party-boy persona, or to trust in the only man who’s ever seen the real him.

Top ten places you’d find Ashton and Val of Concourse

  1. Running. Both characters love to hit the road when they’re stressed or need to clear their minds. Considering both of their stress levels at times, this happens a lot. Val in particular gets antsy if he can’t go for a long run.
  2. Cadet’s Boxing Gym. Valdrin has been going to Cadet’s since he was a kid, learning to box with his long-time trainer. He was seen as a prodigy even if everyone thinks his heart isn’t in it.
  3. Footlocker or Foot Action. Valdrin might be a bit of a sneaker head. Just maybe.
  4. Valdrin doesn’t eat out much, but his favorite thing to do is visit the food trucks in SoHo or Union Square.
  5. Fordham University in the Bronx. Valdrin’s younger sister goes there, and he checks in a lot.
  6. SoHo. This part of Manhattan is the best place for paps to stake out and look for Ashton. He’s almost always seen down there shopping with his close friends Mere and Charles.
  7. Ladurée. If he’s not in Paris, Ashton can now get some of his favorite pastries in New York.
  8. Sunshine Cinema. Both Val and Ashton love frequenting this theater for indie movies. They came together a lot as teenagers.
  9. Central Park. They used to “explore” it as kids, or whenever Ashton was overwhelmed with his parents and needed to get out. Good memories of their earliest bonding moments!
  10. At each other’s homes. Although, maybe they’ll eventually live together…

Concourse (Five Boroughs, #5)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I like how this series embraces the diversity of New York. It has those coming from poor and rich backgrounds, the ones that don’t have to work and the ones struggling with several jobs, entrepreneurs, teachers, dock workers, philanthropists and so on. The main couples have been a mix of ethnicities also. In Concourse, Valdrin is from Albanian descent and working multiple jobs to stay afloat. Ashton is from old money and became famous for a bit of ‘acting out’ and social media.
Honestly, I do not like reality tv or the rich and famous celebrity gossip type stuff. I don’t keep up with them in real life and usually don’t like to read books with these types of characters. Because of how I am, it seems certain that I would not like Ashton, but I adored him. The author does an excellent job of showing how human he is. He’s not just the diva he shows his fans. I’ve always had a thing for book boyfriends who are fighters, boxers or MMA so my love of Valdrin isn’t a surprise. These guys are just perfect compliments to each other. They are almost opposites in many areas but similar in heart.
I completely fell into the life these guys were leading and couldn’t put the book down. I love when I have a reading experience like that. Concourse is sweet, sexy, romantic and entertaining. I recommend it for sure.

Before I Ever Met You by Karina Halle Review

I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager.

He was handsome, had a beautiful wife and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend.

Fast forward ten years: I’m 25 years old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year old son. I’ve made some mistakes, grappled with my demons and now I’m back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.

I’ve started by working for my father’s production company as an executive assistant. My first day on the job and I already know I could have a promising career there.

That is until I see Will McAlister for the first time in a decade.

Now recently divorced and as sophisticated as always, Will has gone from being my father’s friend and business partner to something so much more.

We’re both older, for one thing, and he just oozes this worldly confidence and stark sexuality. Combined with his tall, muscular build and sharp suits, strong jaw and bedroom eyes, Will has turned into one hell of a distraction.

A distraction I’m having a hard time staying away from, considering his office is right across from my desk and I work with him in such close proximity.

But it’s just a harmless crush, right?

It’s just an innocent fantasy of screwing him on his desk, right?

It can’t ever be more because he’s my father’s best friend, business partner, and my boss.

Right?

Wrong.

Before I Ever Met You is a contemporary standalone romance, a light-hearted swoony read that will make you believe in love again.

THE MAN I LOVE by Suanne Laqueur Review

“Like it or not, she made you the man you are. And you never got over her. You just left.”

The man is Erik “Fish” Fiskare, a student of technical theatre at a Philadelphia university. At twenty-two, he is the lover and soul mate of Daisy Bianco, a beautiful and talented ballerina. His best friend is William Kaeger, Daisy’s charismatic, free-spirited partner.

While deeply in love with Daisy and astonished by their physical passion, Erik is fascinated by Will’s bisexuality. But when Will embarks on a disastrous affair with a dancer named James Dow, it pushes Erik’s tolerance and trust to the limit. Rejection soon pushes James over the edge of sanity, taking Will and Daisy with him and leaving Erik in the ruins.

The young stagehand soon discovers that in the face of heartache, grief and betrayal, love is not always enough to make you stay. And sometimes, it’s the only thing that can bring you back.

Spanning fifteen years and following a man’s thrilling emotional journey back to the truth of himself, Laqueur’s debut novel explores the complexities of sexual passion, the dark side of devotion and the futility of running from one’s past. The Man I Love is an epic tale of love and forgiveness that will linger long after the last page is turned.

The Man I Love (The Fish Tales, #1)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I love this author’s writing style. I read wonderful stories all the time, but the actual craft of writing from this author continues to blow me away.
Erik and Daisy meet and fall in love in college. She’s a world class ballerina, and he does the technical design. Everything is going wonderful for them. Their romance is perfect. School is great. By all signs, the future is nothing but up, up, up. After a tragedy, it’s impossible for them to get back on track. This is the journey of their love and despair and the eventual finding of themselves. It spans many years.
I didn’t read anything about this story before starting it. Every emotion hit me hard, and I had to ride it out fully. I want to go into detail about all my feels at each point, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Just know that you aren’t going to want to put it down, but you may have to a few times to wipe your eyes. It’s beyond beautiful. It broke my heart at times and overfilled it others. The Man I Love is not to be missed. Exquisite. Moving. Defining.

GOODBYE PARADISE by Sarina Bowen Review

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh & Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.
But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.
It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.
Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?
Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counterThis book was previously released under the title: In Front of God & Everyone. For more about its previous publication, you can read this blog post.

Goodbye Paradise (Hello Goodbye, #1)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love the way this author delivers interesting and emotional stories with deep down good characters. Josh and Caleb were raised in a religious cult. Growing up the way they did is a handicap in many ways, but it also gives them a certain genuineness. Caleb was given a little more freedom to go out into the world when the group had a need that couldn’t be met on the compound. Josh wasn’t allowed on the outside until he was cast out so he struggles more with knowing what’s truly good or bad, dangerous or safe. I love him to pieces.
Although the boys have been sheltered from a lot of things, they have always been attracted to each other so it doesn’t take long for things to heat up when they are allowed to be their true selves. This is an endearing romance with loads of wonderful people and plenty of sexy. If you are a fan of this author or MM, new adult, sweet n’ spicy romance, you should give Goodbye Paradise a go.

EXCERPT

Sarah stands up and presses her lips against mine. And it’s so unexpected, so surprising—I freeze up. But only for a moment. As her mouth gently moves over mine, I begin to thaw. She’s so fucking soft, her taste so very sweet. The kiss is almost chaste—at least it’s the most chaste I’ve ever had. Unpracticed.
And yet, it still manages to make my heart pound against my ribs like an animal in a cage.
“What are you doing?” I whisper, when she pulls back just a little.
“I’m distracting you.” She looks up at me uncertainly. From behind those ridiculously prim little glasses with those big, dark eyes that could bring me to my knees. “Is it working?”
My tongue traces my lower lip, craving more of her.
“I’m not sure. Keep trying—I’ll let you know.”
She smiles quick and relieved . . . and then she reaches back up, wraps her arms about my neck, and kisses me.
Her two lips envelop my lower one, then the upper, all eager, pleasing sweetness. My hands find Sarah’s lower back and I pull her in close, tight against me. Slowly, I open my mouth and she mirrors my movement, opening for me. And it’s good. So very, very good.
It’s like my blood has turned to gasoline, and the touch of her wet, warm tongue is the spark.
I delve deeper, kiss her harder—more demanding—taking the lead. I cup her head in my hands, holding her still while I plunge and devour. A moan seeps from her lips and I devour that too.
But then, breathing harshly, I tear my mouth away.
“Sarah, maybe we shouldn’t. Maybe we should just—”
“I’m sick of being afraid, Henry. And I’m so tired of being alive . . . but not really living. I’ve wanted this for a long time. I want . . . you.” It’s only then that hesitation dims her eyes. “Do you want me too?”
I grip her arms. “More than I’ve wanted anything or anyone in my entire life.”
She takes my hands in hers, lifts them and presses my palms to her breasts. They’re soft and full and absolutely perfect.
“Show me.”
Beneath her robe, her bedclothes are paper thin. I trace my thumbs across her nipples, feeling them harden and peak. I want to suck on them until she’s mindless. I want to lick every inch of her skin and watch her flush with desire.
I wrap my arms around Sarah and lift her right off her feet. With a groan, my mouth is back to hers. Her small pretty hands cup my jaw as I carry her toward the bed. I stop against a wall on the way, knocking a frame sideways, lifting her leg in one hand and wrapping it around my hip so I can thrust against her.
There’s so much I know—deviant, filthy, lovely moves. And I want to teach her every damn one.

About the Authors

Megan Erickson

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better. She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.

Hard Wired (Cyberlove, #3)

4.5 stars
Ian has different online personas. I get it. He has some baggage from his childhood, and these outward shells are what he needs to protect himself. Jesse is a classic good guy. He worries about everyone else and always tries to help others even if it’s at his expense. Ian needs to work on opening up some to the people who are worth his trust, and Jesse needs to learn that sometimes it’s necessary to put yourself first. These guys are more than obviously attracted to each other, but their personalities aren’t an instant smooth connection. One is set to help fix all potential problems. One is set to block perceived intrusion. The guys do have a bumpy way to go.
Hard Wired kept my attention the entire time. There is drama, but it feels necessary, not ridiculous. It’s easy to cheer the guys on in their life ventures and their relationship. I loved this book and definitely recommend it. I also enjoyed getting glimpses of previous characters in the series. The entire series is definitely a must read, but even if you haven’t read the others, you shouldn’t be confused trying this one as a standalone.

review

Football Sundae

This story is adorable. Tanner and Billy are in a pretty ideal small town in Texas. Each character is friendly and mostly sweet. Food, community parties and local ‘celebrity’ athletes are on the minds of everyone. Tanner is a college football player. Billy works at his family’s diner and has aspirations of being a dessert chef. They have the cutest courtship. There are no ‘bad guys’ in this story. Some are less informed about LGBT+ maters, but no one is trying to be mean.
Football Sundae is mostly about Tanner and Billy figuring out their feelings are mutual and sorting out everyday life issues. If you’re looking for a down-home, drama-free, sexy and pleasant gay romance, you definitely should give this book a read.
