INTERBOROUGH by Santino Hassell Blog Tour Review

About Interborough
The Raymond Rodriguez from a few years ago wouldn’t recognize the guy he is today. He’s left his slacker ways far behind him and is now juggling two jobs and school. But the balancing act doesn’t allow much time for the man he loves.
David is doing his best to be supportive, but problems at work and his own insecurity leave him frustrated—in more ways than the obvious—whenever he goes to bed before Raymond gets home. The heat and affection between them is still there, but they barely have the time or energy to enjoy it. And it doesn’t help that Raymond is still hiding David from his colleagues.
The stress mounts so high that a vacation in paradise is filled with turmoil instead of harmony, and culminates on their return to the five boroughs with broken promises and heartache. They have to figure out how to stop allowing their differences to overshadow their love. It’s the only way they’ll make it to forever.
Interborough is available from Riptide Publishing. http://riptidepublishing.com/titles/interborough

REVIEW

Interborough (Five Boroughs, #4)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Raymond totally ‘does it’ for me. I love his gruffness and how he softens for David. I’m so proud for him too, the way he’s made so many positive steps in his life. He gives off all those bad boy vibes and does so many good guy things. He even has the looks. So yeah, male perfection, a five star, four alarm book boyfriend.
We saw David and Raymond go through states of semi-functioning adulthood to actually seeming to pull it together in Sunset Park, but really making everything work takes more than just deciding it will happen. Both are still adapting to being a we instead of an I. There are hardships that come with being a grown up and paying bills. Raymond has never been in love or had responsibilities. David tends to freak out and be overly dramatic. They have their ups and downs, and from these scenes come some of the sweetest dialogue and hottest sex ever. They’re so real. I find myself smiling and sighing and feeling the feels. Michael and Nunzio have some epic love lines too. I may have teared up.
I enjoyed this novel from start to finish. My emotions were involved. The writing is great. The characters are delicious. I can’t recommend it enough.

The Goal by Elle Kennedy Review

She’s good at achieving her goals…

College senior Sabrina James has her whole future planned out: graduate from college, kick butt in law school, and land a high-paying job at a cutthroat firm. Her path to escaping her shameful past certainly doesn’t include a gorgeous hockey player who believes in love at first sight. One night of sizzling heat and surprising tenderness is all she’s willing to give John Tucker, but sometimes, one night is all it takes for your entire life to change.

But the game just got a whole lot more complicated

Tucker believes being a team player is as important as being the star. On the ice, he’s fine staying out of the spotlight, but when it comes to becoming a daddy at the age of twenty-two, he refuses to be a bench warmer. It doesn’t hurt that the soon-to-be mother of his child is beautiful, whip-smart, and keeps him on his toes. The problem is, Sabrina’s heart is locked up tight, and the fiery brunette is too stubborn to accept his help. If he wants a life with the woman of his dreams, he’ll have to convince her that some goals can only be made with an assist.

The Goal (Off-Campus, #4)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
There could not possibly be a better man than Tucker. He’s my best-loved guy from the series for sure, and he jumped near the top of my favorite book boyfriends ever list. Just wow! I need this man in my life for real.
Sabrina takes a little more work to like. She comes off wrong sometimes, but I admired her drive. I also think she endured Tucker’s mom way better than I would have. No wonder Tucker knew just how to handle Sabrina dealing with a mom like that!
The story starts out sexy, fun and mostly shallow, but it soon brings on loads of feels and deepness. I was definitely rooting for Sabrina and Tucker to make it. Both go through quite a journey to reach their goals. I really liked and definitely recommend it.

They are the lost boys.

Sons of mafia mistresses expected to keep their fathers’ sins in the shadows. The lucky ones are forgotten.

Unfortunately for Valentino “Tino” Moretti, his brother Nova was too smart to be forgotten, and too valuable to risk when he resists a life of crime. So they punished Tino instead. Forced into the cruel world of the Sicilian Mafia at twelve, Tino was broken before he was old enough to know the man he was supposed to be. Now he’s what the mafia made him.

The enforcer.

A trained killer forbidden to love, but he did anyway. He’s loved Brianna all along.

Raw and beautiful, their romance was all consuming and far too dangerous. They were ripped apart a long time ago. It’s not until the borgata puts out a hit on her that Brianna falls back into Tino’s arms, churning up their dark past and unraveling all the Moretti brothers’ closely guarded secrets.

This isn’t the end of the story. It’s only the beginning, and it is brutal.

There’s a reason enforcers are considered too deadly to love.

“We have to be better than them. Stronger. Faster. Smarter. Lost boys have to fly.” ~Carlo Moretti, original lost boy

Excerpt
“Who are we hiding from?” Brianna asked as she tossed her bag on the chair by the bed.
“Everyone,” Tino said as he locked the door behind them.
He had a briefcase with him, but there were no clothes in it. Just cash and firearms, neither of which she’d been surprised by when he pulled it out of the trunk.
“Like the feds?” she asked as she stared down at the tank top she was wearing under the jacket Carina had loaned her. She glanced back to Tino as he took off the camouflage hat and set it on the desk by the door. He pulled off his jacket, tossed it over the chair, and stood there in that blue University of Kentucky shirt that was too tight across his broad, muscular chest and clung to his thick biceps. He was way too sexy for her sanity, so she quickly turned away and asked, “Is that why you’re using an ID with your father’s name on it?”
“I’m using that ID ’cause the credit cards in my father’s name are the only ones I have that Nova doesn’t know about, and nice hotels need a credit card for incidentals. The feds are the least of our problems. Where we stand right now, the feds would be doing us a favor to pick us up.”
“We didn’t have to stay somewhere this nice,” she argued. “We should’ve just gone somewhere that takes cash.”
“I’m not staying in a shithole. It bothers me, and you know why it bothers me,” he said with a glare. “If you knew where I landed when I first got to Miami last week, you wouldn’t give me merda about the hotel.”
“For a wedding?” She arched an eyebrow skeptically, ’cause Miami was clearly an issue. “Did something happen in Miami? Obviously you’re not as out as we all thought. Did you piss Don Moretti off?”
“The don pissed me off,” Tino growled at her. “And he knows it. That’s why he attacked you. His plan didn’t work, and now he’s trying to make me feel vulnerable. He’s trying to make me feel sixteen again. He’s scared.”
“He’s not the only one,” Brianna whispered as she sat down on the bed. She looked at her hands as everything hit her again. Her career was as good as gone when she had been working toward becoming a headliner since she was old enough to stand on her toes. For all the years since she and Tino had been apart, her job had been her sole source of joy, and knowing she was going to lose it after she disappeared without a word had her fighting tears. “I did the right thing. I was lonely and unhappy, but I was supposed to be secure, and you were supposed to be safe. Nova promised me.” She lifted her head and stared at him, seeing that Tino was standing there, his entire body tense, as if she had physically struck him. She wanted to feel bad, but damn it, he’d been washing hot and cold since Kentucky. “I’ve missed you. I’ve cried for you. I have closed my eyes a thousand times and tried to imagine it was you touching me instead of—”
“Don’t,” Tino cut her off, as he looked away, clenching his jaw. “Don’t talk about him touching you.”
“It makes you uncomfortable?” She almost shouted it. She was just that indignant. “It was my reality, Tino. While you were off enjoying Southern hospitality with your little strawberry-shortcake friend Alaine, I was living a lie for security, and now that’s gone too! I guess I deserve it. Maybe we both deserve it. I lied in front of God. You made me a liar.”
“I didn’t fuck Alaine. She’s married to Chuito Garcia, who, aside from being the reigning heavyweight UFC world champion, is also my best friend,” Tino said as if he didn’t hear the rest. “I haven’t touched her.”
She let out a bitter, mirthless laugh. “Oh yes, I’m sure you’ve been a pillar of chastity while we’ve been apart.”
“No.” He shook his head in denial. “I fucked my brains out since we broke up. I snorted enough blow to kill an elephant, and I drank so much Nova’s convinced I’m one more drink away from liver failure.”
“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, Tino—” Brianna started, feeling her blood pressure spike.
“I have been dying without you,” Tino said before she could finish. “I’ve been slowly dying, and no one knew it. I couldn’t tell anyone. Then I had to give up the fucking coke ’cause I thought Nova was gonna off himself over the guilt. I’ve just had to sit in Kentucky and die. Sober.” He pulled off his shirt and tossed it over his jacket. “So don’t worry, baby. I’ve suffered for your security too, but if it makes you feel better, I’m gonna make sure they pay for fucking it up.” He walked past her to the bathroom, pulling at the button to his jeans as he did. “I’m gonna make them all pay. I’m done being Cosa Nostra’s whore.”
She flinched when he said it, because that word had so many terrible implications for Tino, but he just gave her a look that dared her to deny it as he went on, “They broke me a long time ago; now they’ve broken you too. That wasn’t supposed to happen. I’ve been screwed for the last time, and you can put it on my fucking tombstone. I’m done!”

THE ENFORCER SPOTIFY PLAYLIST

Author Q & A

1.     You said that each character has their own song. What is Tino’s song?

Favorite song. . . Funny, I’ve been asked that a lot. . . So I’d say a toss up between Lost Boy by Ruth B and Fight Song by Rachel Platten. . . Also, recently I found Neverland by VanLadyLove that I’ve been listening to as I write Enforcer’s Revenge and it fits very well.

2.     Which character has been the most difficult to write so far? Do you have conversations with the characters?

God, I’m boring. . . No. LOL!

I sit down and they write themselves. . . Sometimes in ways I never anticipated or in Tino’s case sometimes in ways I’m not sure I want him to. He’s very open in the bedroom. He has no boundaries and he did a few things in this book that I was like. . . NO NO NO! DON’T, TINO. . .  And you did it. . .

But those scenes came across so honest and so blatantly Tino. . .I couldn’t really change them. I had to leave them as they were. . . I owed Tino that.

LOL! Just cause I don’t talk to them doesn’t mean they’re not real (Lie to me if it’s not true!!)

3.     How do you plan to celebrate the release of The Enforcer?

I don’t know. I was discussing that with my husband the other day. . . I don’t drink much (Hard to believe reading these books!) but we’ll probably order take out from somewhere nice or perhaps make something different and fun! Maybe I can talk my husband into cooking for me ::winks::

4. What is the main factor the men of the Untamed Hearts series have in common?

I think they’re all very loyal men. They don’t trust easily, but once they do they’ll go the distance. They’re good friends to have. . . and extremely dangerous enemies.

5. How is Tino different from the others?

Tino is a bit more sentimental where the others are completely cynical, even though Tino has more reason than anyone to have lost that optimism. More than that he still wants to believe in happy endings. Maybe not for himself, but he fights for it when others around him need that support. In every book, Tino’s always been the one who stood by his brother or his friends when everyone thought they were crazy to risk it all for love, Tino was the one who got it. . . Maybe because he knows how precious true love is. He’s always known.

REVIEW

The Enforcer (Untamed Hearts, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I could never ever do this book justice with my review. The Enforcer is definitely the best I’ve read this year, maybe the best in years. I don’t know when I have ever been so hung over. I’m devastated that I reached the end of the novel. I’d give a great deal to be able to unread it and read it for the first time again, and I will absolutely be rereading this story. Those pitiful and strong Moretti boys totally owned my heart while I devoured the pages, and they still own it.
Children born to mistresses of made men are considered lower than dirt. After the death of their mother, Nova and Tino fall under the care of their big brother Romeo. Life isn’t wonderful, but the three of them are managing to scrape by and maintain a loving home. Everything changes when their father learns that Nova is a genius. Fourteen-year-old Nova becomes their father’s yes-man because he uses twelve-year-old Tino as his whipping boy in order to make Nova toe the line.
Tino is the sweetest, most beautiful person. He tries to always please others and make them feel good about themselves despite the horrible reality of much of his life. He is physically, emotionally and sexually abused. He’s forced to deal and murder. Despite all of this, he never looses his loving nature.
This story is running over with feelings. It has loads of sadness topped with epically endearing moments. There’s plenty of humor and cuteness, and of course it has the sexy and romantic covered. The Enforcer has it all. Readers get to know the boys and the men. Oh, my heart, this truly, truly is a must read.
Also, I think the author really did her homework on the ins and outs of organized crime. It really makes everything more interesting.

REVIEW

Target on Our Backs (Monster in His Eyes, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
We all know the type of man Ignazio is. He knows. Karissa knows. Everyone knows. He makes no apologies for his past, but he is trying to lead a different life now for Karissa’s sake. The problem is that the other players don’t want to let him go.
Target on Our Backs isn’t full of unexpected or shocking moments, but so much is life-changing or life-threatening. Naz and Karissa know how serious everything is, but the vibe surrounding them is subdued. They’re so strong and practical, the perfect matches for each other.
This author is a master at delivering a powerful, stoic male lead. The fearlessness isn’t bravado. He knows he isn’t invincible. He has nothing to prove. He isn’t afraid to die even. The only thing that concerns him is the woman he loves.
I enjoyed seeing a different side of Naz, the subtle exchanges that mean so much between him and Karissa. Getting to know Giuseppe a little more is a special treat. Some new characters from Naz’s past also pop up.
I was not expecting a third book. I thought the story was over. I didn’t think I wanted more, but I was wrong. I needed this book. It gave me that consumed feeling that I haven’t had in awhile. Even days later it’s still heavy on my mind. I loved it, and the ending is perfect.

Appealed by Emma Chase Review

When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn’t see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman…who wants to crush the most intimate – and prized – parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Christian Louboutins.

Brent has never let the loss of his leg in a childhood accident affect his ability to lead a fulfilling life. He sets high goals–and then he reaches them.

And now he has his sights set on Kennedy.
**
When Kennedy looks at Brent Mason, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell.

She’s not a lovesick social outcast anymore – she’s a DC prosecutor with a long winning streak behind her. Brent is the opposing attorney in her next case and she thinks it’s time to put him through a little hell of his own.

But things aren’t exactly working out that way.

Because every fiery exchange has her wondering if he’s as passionate in the bedroom as he is in the courtroom. Each argument and objection only makes him want her more. In the end, Brent and Kennedy may just find themselves in love…or in contempt of court.

APPEALED is a sexy, humorous romance about first crushes, second chances and the final verdict of the heart.

EXCERPT

My gaze burns into hers and my voice is almost as hard as my dick. “Rule number one—you don’t set one pretty toe out of my bed without waking me up first. Ever.”

I lean in and skim my nose up the delicate line of her neck, then I drag my tongue down the same path to her pulse point—wrapping my lips around it and sucking—hard enough to leave one bitch of a mark.

But . . . that’s the price she pays.

“I jerked off in the shower,” I hiss against her. “And I was still hard as a rock watching you in court.”

That little tidbit gets me a nice whimper. But I’m not done. “And I swear, I could still smell you on my fingers. It drove me crazy all fucking day.”

I tilt back until I’m looking into her eyes. They’re lit up with heat and sublimely stimulated.

“Stop looking at me like that,” I bark.

“Like what?”

“Like you want me to kiss you. I’m not going to kiss you, Kennedy—I’m pissed off at you.”

She squirms in her seat, her eyes flickering between my lips and my Adam’s apple. And a groan catches in my chest—because she apparently likes me pissed off at her.
Jesus, the fun I could have with that.
But I stay focused. “Ground rule two—we talk. Not about the case, but everything else is on the table. No more running away.”
Her throats constrict as she swallows—and I can almost hear her heart pounding. Or maybe it’s mine.
“Three—we take this one day at a time. You’re freaked, there’s shit between us—I get it. I won’t ask for more than you can give me.”
Her brow crinkles. “Brent, I don’t think—”
“You say that a lot. You seem very confused. So I’m going to make it real easy for you: I’m coming to your house tonight. I’m bringing food. We’ll hang out. If we happen to spend a good portion of that time without any clothes on— we’ll roll with that too. Say yes.”
Kennedy is silent for several moments – just long enough to make me realize I’m holding my breath.
Then she relents. “Yes.”
“Good girl.”
Her eyes narrow at me.
But because I’m so pleased— because I’ve wanted to all damn day—I eat my own words, lean in, and kiss the fuck out of her.

I love Brent! He is perfect for me. Kennedy should just step aside and let me have him. 😉 Seriously, Brent is one of my top book boyfriends, and Kennedy is definitely the only girl for him.
Brent has always had money, as in super rich, so it was surprising for him to become a defense attorney. To many, becoming a lawyer would be a lucrative job, but he already has more many than he could ever make working; so, he’s in it because it’s his calling. His money and strong work ethic aren’t even his best features in my eyes. His sense of humor is what gets me. He’s a comic book nerd and a total goof ball. *Swooning* Oh, and he’s hot of course. 😉
Kennedy and Brent grew up together. They were two peas in a pod for years. She was there during his rehabilitation from the accident that caused the partial loss of his leg. He was there during her awkwardness, braces and glasses. As happens sometimes, other people got in the way. Years later, they find themselves on opposing sides of a case.
Kennedy is a tiger. She goes after what she wants with gusto. She’s been knocked down a few times in life so she’s Ms. Tough-As-Nails Dragon Lady compared to his Mr. Charming Clown.
This story has a good bit of action, laughs, sexiness and heart. It’s a story of best friends turned enemies to lovers. And if you enjoyed the other characters, you’ll be happy to know that you get regular updates on how they’re all doing. The epilogue is beautiful—I loved the whole book really. Yes, I definitely recommend reading.

Ride Steady by Kristen Ashley Review

Ride Steady (Chaos #3)

release date June 30, 2015
The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy—until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa’s pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.
Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he’s the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa’s acting, it’s clear she’s falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker’s secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa—or ride away forever . . .

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.
Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).
Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.
And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Ride Steady (Chaos, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Carson/Joker and Carissa are a little different from some of my favorite KA’s leads. He isn’t a super huge alpha, and she isn’t in denial over being claimed by him. He’s really sweet. (Not to be confused with wimpy since he is an underground fighting champion, but he’s more patient and less bossy.) She’s willing to go after what she wants (read as, she pursues him).
As a child, Carson was abandoned by his mother and abused by his father. He dreams of working in car design and Carissa. Some around him see his potential for greatest, but he mostly sees himself as a looser. He moves on to a be a member of Chaos and does well working in their custom garage.
Although her parents loved her, Carissa didn’t have the perfect home life and background either. It’s been filled with hardships and deaths. She was one of the in/popular crowd in school, but now she finds herself divorced with a baby and barely scraping by.
When these two meet again years later, there’s no denying the spark between them is still there. Both have many issues, yet so much to give. Parts of their lives were emotional for me. It may be because I am a single mother, but I shed a few tears while reading. Carissa’s ex comes from a mega rich and powerful family so he calls most of the shots with their son. I felt so sad for her. Carson is exceptional with her baby which melted me into a pile of I-love-Carson-mush. It gave me heart pains and made me fall deeply for him.
Awesomely, a lot of KA’s characters from other books make appearances. Such a total treat! Also, the war that has been brewing with Valenzuela continues. Chaos is growing and changing. Major story is packed into this book. It has several aspects including strength, redemption and family. I loved the entire novel, and I cannot wait for the next installment.

 EXCERPT

“And . . .” She held up her hand like she was doing a damn countdown! “You’re kind of, like . . .” She leaned forward and whispered, “A bit . . .” Her eyes teased. “Metro.”
“As in . . . ,” I baited her.
“Feminine,” she snapped. “Yup, that’s the word. And Max, I mean that in the nicest way possible.”
“You mean . . .” I licked my lips, then slapped the water. “In the kindest way you can possibly say it, ‘Oh, look, Max has boobs’? Or you mean it in the way that says I lack the proper sexual magnetism to get your engine going?”
Becca rolled her eyes. “Hey, I didn’t come here to fight. I was just going to go over our date for tomorrow without the watchful eyes of Big Brother.”
“Hmm.” She was looking down at her feet. So I did what any desperate man who’d just been insulted in the worst way possible would do. I grabbed her feet, dragged her into the water, creating a huge splash, and then, when her head popped up for air, I gave her something else.
My tongue.
Kissing Becca could become a very nice, very addicting . . . pastime. Her lips were soft, pliant, but her hands were beating against my chest. Ah, classic move. Listen up, men: women fight us because they’re expected to. They have to put up the fight so they don’t come off as easy. So the next time a girl hits you in the chest, go with it, kiss her harder. It just means she wants more, especially when her chest is heaving and her tongue is doing . . . that. Yeah, exactly. Oh. Hell. Damn. Kill me now. When her tongue is doing that? Becca’s tongue pushed against mine and then she sucked.
I felt said sucking all the way through my body.
When she stopped fighting me, I wrapped my arms around her neck, pulling her as close against me as I could, and then pulled away.
Her eyes furrowed with confusion as she tried to lean forward.
I pulled back again, and swam her over to the ladder.
“Thanks, Becca,” I whispered. “I needed a little motivation.”
“M-motivation?”
“Game on.” I helped her up and followed. “And by the way . . .” I grabbed her hands and moved her flat palms from my chest all the way down to my waist. “I’m anything but feminine. Have a good night.” As I walked away, I did what any sane man would do. I paused so she could get her fill and realize that yes, I was, in fact, still naked. And when I heard her gasp, I turned around and saluted her in more ways than one.

Point. Max.

The Consequence of Revenge (Consequence, #2)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Max was probably my favorite thing about book one so I was eager to read his book. After finishing it, I like him even more.
The beginning of this novel is slapstick comedy like the first was. Some is more over the top and even a bit cheesy. I found myself literally laughing out loud. After it really gets into the meat of the story, there are actually several surprisingly deep parts. Max is quite the man. He mostly just shows his easy going, silly, well-groomed side, but he is also very smart, romantic and athletic. I was truly shocked by how hard I fell for him. One minute he had me giggling and the next swooning.
The female lead is easy to like, and her personality fits Max’s perfectly. They are a definite match. The rest of the little gang of friends also play their parts. It was nice catching up with everyone again. New characters and animals join the cast. They are great additions.
The overall plot was good, not mind-blowing, but I did enjoy it. I recommend it to those looking for something light and fun, a good-time read. On the other hand, Max, really stands out to me. He’s the total package— gorgeous looks, wealth, intelligence, excellent sense of humor and the biggest heart ever. I love him. I want my own Max.

Irrevocable by Shay Savage Review

Irrevocable (Evan Arden Book 5)
by
Shay Savage
May 26, 2015

Have you ever made a mistake?
A big one?
I’m back in Chicago and back in business with my boss, Rinaldo Moretti. So much for my run at a normal life. There are some new faces in the organization, and someone’s been cooking the books. Personally? I think they’re after more than a just little cash. If I have any hopes of flushing out the traitor, I’m going to need to find a good hooker to help me sleep at night.
As the bodies pile up, I find solace in Alina. There’s something about her, something different. She understands me without asking a lot of questions. It’s as if she’s known me for years, yet we’ve only just met. If I weren’t so distracted by business, I’d try to figure out her story. She’s the only one keeping me grounded as my world spins out of control.
I’m going to lose the one man who has ever meant anything to me – the only man to ever call me son. I want to deny his request, but there is no avoiding what awaits me. I never wanted any of this, but I’m out of options, and time is running out.
Some choices have unforeseen consequences, and some choices are simply irrevocable.

Irrevocable (Evan Arden, #5)

Even though Evan is a very flawed man, I have loved him since the beginning. This has been a 5 star series for me. I was super excited to receive more of his story.
In this installment, Evan has returned to his boss, the only person he feels deserves his loyalty. He still has the same issues with his mental disorders and still picks up hookers in order to sleep. I’ve always be attracted to how disturbing he is. He still kills like it’s nothing and has no concern for his own life.
This story seemed to switch it’s main focus several times. When we were headed one direction something would happen to make it seem like the overall point was something else. I found it to be a little difficult to keep up because it was like warring storylines battling to come to the top.
Evan and Sebastian will always be favorites of mine. I am glad I read this book, and I recommend it to other fans of the Evan Arden series. It will definitely keep you guessing.

Trust by Ella Frank Blog Tour Review

TRUST

Ella Frank

Blurb

TRUSTverb: to believe in the reliability, truth, or strength of another.

Up until now, Logan Mitchell has never had much of a reason to trust anyone.
Having struggled with a self-identity crisis throughout college, he’s spent the years since then creating a sophisticated facade to present to the world.
It’s an armor he thought was impenetrable—until he met Tate Morrison.
The gorgeous, headstrong bartender he’d sat across from only months ago has taken a tight hold of his heart, and Logan is discovering that it’s time to let go.
It’s time to let someone inside.

After years of placing his dreams on hold for his family, Tate has finally chosen to do what makes him happy and follow his heart.
The one thing he never would’ve imagined was that it would lead him into the arms of a man—and not just any man—the striking, never-takes-no-for-an-answer Logan Mitchell.
Tate has fallen hard, and as his world is turned on its axis and they move forward together, he finds his life becoming more entwined with the confident, successful lawyer.

Even though neither man expected the other, it’s time to trust in their relationship—but not everything comes so easily…

Excerpt

“What’s wrong with my hair? Are you saying I need to cut it?”
“No, I’m fucking not,” Logan said as he fingered the curls by Tate’s ear. “And you know it.”
“What would you do if I did shave my head?”
“Kill you? And likely get away with it since I have connections to a very reputable law firm.”
Tate chuckled and shoved Logan until he was on his back beside him. “Be serious.”
Logan turned his head on the pillow and ran his eyes over Tate’s full head of hair. Then he returned his gaze to the eyes watching him. “I would quite possibly cry. For days.”
“Over my hair? It does grow back, you know.”
“Yeah, but not for months,” he grumbled. “Can you please stop talking so calmly about this? You’re making me nervous.”
Tate shifted until his long, lean body was stretched out above him, and Logan widened his legs to allow him to settle in between.
“Don’t worry,” Tate assured him as he lowered his head to kiss the corner of his mouth. He then moved those teasing lips to Logan’s ear and whispered, “I like your hands in it too much to cut it off.”
Logan threaded his fingers through the thick waves and asked, “Like this?”
With a groan, Tate rocked his hips against him, and Logan twisted his fingers tighter.
Exactly like that.”
“Good,” he said as he wound his legs around Tate’s. “Because this way, I can have a tight hold on you when you’re trying to distract me. I’m onto you, Mr. Morrison. Don’t try to use your body against me.”
He almost lost his willpower when Tate, the cocky fucker, placed his hands on either side of his head and rubbed their erections together.
“You don’t want me to use my body on you?”
“Fuck you,” Logan said, knowing full well that, if he didn’t change the subject or get Tate the hell off him, he was going to roll him over and cease talking altogether.
Usually he’d love nothing more, but right now, he wanted to know why Tate had reacted so strongly to his question from last night—well, early morning.
“We need to talk.”

REVIEW

Trust (Temptation, #3)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Logan and Tate have gone through many changes from when we first met them. They’ve moved on to a great place in their relationship. Being a reader who has followed their journey, I couldn’t wait to have more, but I was sad to know this was the end of the series. Watching these men grow into who they are suppose to be with each other has been wonderful.
Even though they are together and exclusive, Logan and Tate have not completely sorted out their happily ever after. What’s the end game? Trust answers all of that. Also, as shown with the last installment, they have many issues—family members, exes and just life problems that arise. This book does have surprises in all of those categories.
Trust is very erotic, and the sex is oh so hot. But what makes it so much more is that the reader knows and can feel the love between these men. They each gave the other a try, allowed the other to take their heart and now trust the other with their life. I feel as if their love has become a living, organic being which I am now a part of.
I always enjoy catching up with the cast of the Exquisite series. They all had bits. I’m hoping Ella will at some point in the future allow the Temptation series to cross over into another also. hint, hint 😉
I’m not going to discuss individual parts of the story because it should be experienced by the reader. I really liked this book, but even though, each sex scene was filled with love, I would have been just as happy without all of the sex scenes. Many are very meaningful though. It definitely fills the erotic definition. 😉
I just want to say thank you to Ella. This series will always have a special place in my heart. Try was the first M/M novel I ever read. It opened up a whole new world to me. Now I read as much M/M as anything else. Logan and Tate will always be my first, and their series will always be one of the great romances of the literary world.

Cover Artist: Bey Deckard
Release Date: April 11th, 2015 (pre-order avail from March 25th)
Word Count: 117 000+

Blurb:

With the captain’s mind in shambles, Jon and Tom set out to find the passage home through the black mountain range, hoping to find a cure for Baltsaros’s madness. However, when the men are forced to part ways, darkness takes root in the schism created; fate, lust, and vengeance become obsessions threatening to tear apart the fragile bonds holding the three together.

Following on the heels of Sacrificed, Fated takes the pirates on a quest to find those responsible for the captain’s bloody beginnings. But can they survive what awaits them where past and present meet?

Excerpt:

Jon rubbed his face, bleary and tense, and looked over at the man lying beside him on the bed. He was startled to see that he was awake. Tiny pinpricks of light were reflected in Baltsaros’s dark eyes as he watched Jon silently.
“I’m sorry, did I wake you?” whispered Jon.
A deep crease appeared between Baltsaros’s brows. After a moment, he shook his head slowly.
“Are you in pain?” Jon said, turning onto his side. Another headshake. “Thirsty? No?” He sighed and reached out to check the man’s forehead for fever. He felt powerless and frustrated in the face of Baltsaros’s suffering.
At his touch, Baltsaros’s brow smoothed out, and he reached up to place his fingers against the back of Jon’s hand.
Jon smiled at the contact, but his heart sank at the dry heat that burned beneath his palm—he was getting worse. “We’ll get home to Madierus as soon as we can… I’m sure Abetha will be able to help you somehow.”
“Yes. It will be all right,” Baltsaros rasped, encircling Jon’s wrist with his long fingers.
Jon nodded quickly, made suddenly uneasy by the glittering gaze of the sick man. It was as if the only signs of life in his face were the coal-black eyes that watched him without expression. Baltsaros pulled Jon’s hand away from his forehead and pressed a soft kiss to the inside of his wrist before letting go. His lips were hot and parched, and Jon felt another pang of concern.
“Come here,” whispered Baltsaros. “I want to hold you in my arms. It will make me feel better like nothing else can.”
Something felt… off. However, Jon brushed aside the feeling and moved closer to him, placing his head on the man’s shoulder. Gingerly, he curled his arm around Baltsaros’s waist, bracing himself and trying not to put too much weight on the man beneath him. The position would quickly get uncomfortable, but he didn’t want to hurt him. A little sacrifice.
Baltsaros’s fingers came up to stroke his cheek, his jaw, down the bridge of his nose; when his fingertips brushed Jon’s bottom lip, Jon let out a little sigh.
“You’re such a soft creature,” murmured Baltsaros.
Jon frowned, none too happy to be called “soft”. He was not the weak thing he had once been. However, he forced himself to let the words run off of him like droplets down a duck’s glossy back. It was meant as a compliment, a way for Baltsaros to say how much he liked touching Jon. Nothing more. It should make him happy.
Then why do I feel like running?
The thought had barely touched his mind before Baltsaros’s hand closed over his mouth, his thumb and forefinger painfully pinching Jon’s nose shut as he rolled over on top of him. He froze for half an instant before he tried to push the man off, but Baltsaros wrapped his other hand around Jon’s throat and squeezed. Panic flooded Jon’s brain as he fought to free himself. For a man who was so wounded, Baltsaros bore down distressingly hard on Jon as he crushed his windpipe, slowly robbing him of breath. Nothing Jon did shifted his iron grip—not his nails clawing into flesh nor his feet battering at Baltsaros’s shins as he struggled desperately. It was like Baltsaros was made of senseless clay. A deadly golem.
Min haeken,” murmured Baltsaros. “Stop struggling. Give in, my soft little thing. Give up. Hush now, Jon. It will only be a moment longer. Give in. That’s it, my love… You don’t need to suffer life any longer. Let me take this pain from you. I will never be able to hurt you again… Trust me, Jon. Trust me…” His voice continued to coo and whisper in Jon’s ear as he fought for his life. His vision swam with amorphous shapes that fled down a narrowing tunnel of darkness. With his last surge of strength, Jon reached up and beat against the headboard with his fist, nerveless to the carved figures that dug into his knuckles with every strike.
There was a strange, warm feeling in Jon’s chest, and the world went crazy with bright colours right before the blackness overtook him.

Guest Post:

The End

I’ve got a confession to make:

I dislike endings. Why, you ask? For various reasons.

One is that denouements often drive me to skim because all the energy of the story falls flat as the characters are given happy endings and things that don’t need to be explained are explained. I’m actually not a big fan of HEAs. Blame it on the fact that I’m Canadian and most of my favourite Canadian movies have either abrupt or sort of bittersweet/unresolved endings—the kind where sometimes the characters are happy enough, but only time will tell how long before that changes. Sound a little bleak? Yeah maybe. I just don’t find many HEAs to be realistic enough for me to really enjoy them. Don’t get me wrong… I do have a soft spot for some HEAs that are done well and not drawn out too much, but many don’t fall under that category. Some of my favourite books have endings that I don’t like. It’s really an “it’s me, not you” thing… Hell, I even avoid goodbyes if I can.

Then there’s the fact that I don’t agree or just plain don’t like some endings and would have ended them differently should I have been the writer (or director). I have friends who make fun of the fact that I rewatch/reread so many things without sticking through to the end. I don’t need those endings… the ones in my head are better.

That being said, I know that some people really like endings and denouements and HEAs.

So… then we come my books. I don’t mind so much ending the books themselves—I think I’ve done an ok job of that so far—but ending the trilogy? I have to say that it made me a little nervous. I needed to get it right. I really didn’t want to screw the pooch with Fated.

I’ve also known exactly how it was going to end since the very beginning. It was just a matter of getting there and writing it down… and I really dragged my heels because it meant that I had to say goodbye to the characters. It’s the end of the trilogy, after all.

But then someone asked me a question: does it have to be the end?

As it turns out… no.

Is it the end of the trilogy? Yes. But, no… I am definitely not done with the world of Baal’s Heart.

Fated: Blood and Redemption (Baal's Heart, #3)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I was super excited to dig into this story but very sad knowing it was the final from this trio. Fated alternates between past and present times, continuing the plot while closing some gaps. This installment, like the ones before it, is almost impossible to categorize. The main characters are pirates. It feels sort of historical fantasy; yet, with some of the gadgets like the lights, it almost has hints of steampunk. The mysticism, eroticism and BDSM-lite are still present as well. Adventure and action are major themes. Naturally, it has darkish elements and obviously the true and imperfect love between three men. ♂♂♂
We ended with Baltsaros sick in Sacrificed. It’s a peculiar illness affecting body and especially mind. He’s basically nutso. Of course Jon and Tom are on a mission to save him, but his being somewhat out of commission, does allow for growth between Tom and Jon. Also the previously untold beginning between Tom and Baltsaros is filled in. I didn’t even realize how badly I wanted their history until I was reading it. As if I could love Tom anymore, seeing how playful and strong he is after all he’s endured in life gave me a case of the feels. ♡
Fated has lots of characters besides the three leads. There are several men, and one thing I’ve noticed in this author’s writing is that he’s great with female characters too. It’s not just in the world of M/M fiction that novels are sometimes lacking good female roles. So it’s kind of extra special since this is a gay story to have likable feminine personalities. Instead of boring and whiny, they’re fun and bold.
It wouldn’t be a Baal’s Heart tale without loads of conflict, warfare and pain. The crew has to battle the elements, each other’s attitudes, inner demons, sins from their pasts and plenty of unfriendlies. ☠
I knew given the previous books that the sex would be hot, but this author paints a masterpiece with his words. Each sex scene carries it’s own unique lustiness. My reading was extremely intense—like, I was so wound up, I had to take a break during one scene.
The ending was perfect. I don’t want to discuss, but I just want to say that anything different would not have fit.
My final conclusion is that I want a spot on Baal’s Heart. I don’t actually want to do any manual labor or endure any hardships—I just want to hang out in the captain’s quarters and watch the show. 😉
